Main goals

Conduct a robust review of the GSA’s Sustainability Program relevant, proactive, and effective in addressing the dynamic challenges and opportunities of the shea sector, while safeguarding its long-term viability

Specific objectives

SO1. Assess the current sustainability landscape within the shea sector
SO2. Identify emerging trends, including challenges and opportunities, along with their associated implications
SO3. Establish new principles, criteria, and workstreams within the Global Shea Alliance Sustainability Program as deemed necessary

Beneficiaries

The 560 Global Shea Alliance members from 35 countries including women's groups, brands and retailers, suppliers, NGOs, producer national associations, and affiliates

Activities

A1. An analysis of the GSA’s seven sustainability programmes to determine impact and learning
A2. A benchmarking of the GSA against five other industry initiatives
A3. An ESG Materiality analysis
A4. New principles, criteria, workstreams and MEL framework suggested for the Sustainability Programme
A5. Final slide deck which can be used to engage with further stakeholders and donors
A6. Final report
