Main goals

  • Technical support for the implementation of the WTO Agreements (of which Chad has been a member since 1996) and present and future negotiating capacities to ensure wider integration of its economy into the multilateral trading system
  • Implementation of the trade policy reforms needed to improve the performance of the Chadian production system

Specific objectives

  • Strengthen the capacity to negotiate and implement the WTO agreements in Chad by providing the necessary training
  • Carry out a study of the effects of reduction of customs duties on the revenue of the State and on the competitiveness of the Chadian economy, usable if necessary during future negotiations
  • Conduct a study of the impact of the opening of the priority service sectors (telecommunications, tourism and travel services, financial and other services to be defined) that can be used if necessary in future negotiations
  • Strengthen the capacity for legal and institutional harmonization, notification and monitoring of priority commitments
