The Standards and Trade Development Facility (STDF) is a global partnership to facilitate safe trade, contributing to sustainable economic growth, poverty reduction and food security. It promotes improved food safety, animal and plant health capacity in developing countries.

The STDF helps developing countries build their food safety capacity to meet SPS trade requirements, based on international standards. It enables various stakeholders from the agriculture, health, trade and development sectors to come together to discuss SPS capacity building needs, share experiences and good practices and mobilize additional funds. The STDF also provides seed funding for the development and implementation of collaborative and innovative projects in the SPS field.

More than 35 African countries are among the beneficiaries of the STDF projects.
