September 2012
End
November 2012

Countries

Madagascar

Fields

Biodiversity Climate Forest REDD+ Remote sensing

Main goals

Management training to the National Office of the Environment and the General Directorate for Forestry of Madagascar

Specific objectives

  • Measurement of carbon stocks of aerial biomass and soil via dendrometric inventories (measuring diameter and height of trees in the Vertex, entered with the OpenDataToolkit application), and pedological inventories (description and measurement of soil density, soil sampling)
  • Historical analysis of deforestation by remote sensing via a theory session (remote sensing methods and REDD + requirements) and a practical session (implementation of the methodology developed under the PHCF)
