Romain Akpassonou

Biography
A design engineer in Energy and Process Engineering with a Master 2 in Numerical Modelling of Energy Systems from the National University of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (UNSTIM) in Benin, he specialises in the energy recovery of waste from agri-food processing. He develops solutions that are low-impact, reproducible and adapted to local realities.
He has worked with research institutions such as CIRAD in Senegal, notably as part of the BioStar project, where he carried out an in-depth analysis of the design trajectories of bioenergy equipment co-developed with local stakeholders. In Benin, he has contributed to a number of innovative projects, including the design of biodigesters for agri-food SMEs, the recovery of cassava and pineapple residues, and the development of pyrolysis systems.
All of his work is part of a frugal innovation approach, aimed at developing energy solutions tailored to the technical and economic realities of local stakeholders.
