We are recruiting a Project Manager based in Lyon

Come and join Nitidæ to contribute to a project in São Tomé and Príncipe!

Project context

The BioFlor+ project aims to contribute to the preservation of São Tomé and Príncipe's exceptional ecosystems while consolidating the foundations for sustainable, inclusive and resilient territorial development. It is based on an integrated approach combining (i) a territorial diagnosis and multi-stakeholder consultation linking sectors, biodiversity and deforestation/degradation dynamics, (ii) a micro-project financing facility for initiatives with a strong environmental and social impact, geared towards a ‘zero deforestation’ trajectory, and (iii) a training, applied research and data production component to strengthen local skills and the steering capacities of institutions and sectors.

Mission

The Project Manager is responsible for the operational implementation of the project and the achievement of its results, ensuring the coordination of activities and partners. He/she oversees planning, budget monitoring and the production of deliverables, and guarantees the quality of technical and financial reporting to donors.

He/she ensures the cross-cutting integration of environmental and social requirements, as well as consistency between diagnostics, needs analyses, consultations and the implementation of activities. He/she develops and facilitates institutional and private partnerships.

Required profile

  • Education: Master's degree (or equivalent) in agronomy, forestry, environment/biodiversity or rural development
  • Experience: at least 3 years' experience, ideally in project management (NGO, consulting firm, international organisation), preferably in Africa or in a tropical context
  • Technical skills: good understanding of forestry, biodiversity and agriculture issues and of territorial, agroforestry and integrated conservation approaches. Proficiency in GIS/remote sensing tools is not essential, but a background in data and mapping is an asset. Sensitivity to gender, inclusion and community participation issues
  • Know-how: ability to coordinate, organise, prioritise and facilitate meetings and workshops, including remotely. Strong writing skills and ability to produce clear and structured deliverables
  • Languages: fluent French and Portuguese essential
  • Personal qualities: autonomy, rigour, practicality and results-oriented. Ability to work in a multicultural environment and remotely

Terms of the offer

  • Executive status: Syntec collective agreement
  • Position based in Lyon with regular travel to São Tomé and Príncipe (1/3 of the time)
  • Type of contract: Full-time fixed-term contract
  • Duration: minimum 1 year, renewable
  • Start date: early April 2026 preferred
  • Remuneration in accordance with Nitidae's salary scale, based on profile and experience
  • Working hours: 214 days per year
