Main goals

In order to meet the expectations of the Togolese population with regard to coverage of priority agricultural products (100% by 2025), as well as improve the performance of Togolese agriculture (8 to 10% productivity gain by 2025), the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development wishes to develop producers' access to mechanization and irrigation. To ensure the feasibility and relevance of this investment, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development is requesting this study of the needs of Togolese producers at the national level with regard to mechanization and agricultural irrigation

Specific objectives

SO1. Constitute a bibliography on the Togolese agricultural sectors and the different agro-climatic terroirs, as well as the inventory of mechanization and irrigation in farms
SO2. Carry out a field mission to meet key stakeholders in the agricultural sector from several regions in order to identify the main axes of the survey, to be broken down according to the regions
SO3. Develop a digitized questionnaire and deploy a team of 50 investigators to collect data from 8,000 producers, spread over the 394 cantons
SO4. Produce a typology of producers based on respondents' production strategies (land tenure, crop rotation, share between cash crop/self-consumed production, available workforce, production and cash flow schedules...)
SO5. Identify future trends related to the adoption, or not, by producers of mechanized production or irrigation tools, by specifying the factors facilitating or limiting this adoption, while specifying recommendations for implementing the CRMA model
